My name is Amaleen Ison, and I am a horror film fanatic.
I draw the line at films that show excessive gore and focus on human suffering. The so called slasher or torture movies are not my thing. I enjoy psychological and paranormal horror.
Apparently I’m atypical (I usually am). The usual horror-flick viewer is a man between the ages of 15 – 45. But, I’m willing to bet the majority of these males prefer the blood, guts, and gore stories.
There are few things I enjoy more than sitting in a darkened room, clutching a cushion to my chest, and watching a terrifying movie. It’s scary but it’s safe, and that’s key. I have no desire to live in a real haunted house or to be chased through my home town by a zombie with a grudge. I rather like my life the way it is without having to cope with daily paranormal challenges.
So why do people watch horror movies? I can only speak for myself. I relish the rush of adrenaline, being distracted from mundane life, snubbing social norms, and enjoying a voyeuristic glimpse of the horrific from a safe distance.
To share my love of horror, and to hopefully convert a few non-lovers, I’m going to feature a weekly scary clip. Today’s YouTube video encompasses everything that I love about horror. Pay careful attention at 0.52 mins
Enjoy.

Thanks. I had to go change my underwear!
Sharon, you make me laugh
Thanks for your comment
Nope, I’ll never be a horror fan. I just can’t do it. I loved the Scream movies, but the real deal? No. No thanks. And psychological is the WORST! I don’t want my entertainment to torture me, what’s wrong with you woman?!
*runs away to watch the Care Bears Movie*
I guess I’m a little unhinged
I’m with you. I love the adrenaline of a good scare. I can take some blood in my fiction, but I’m not into gore for the sake of being grossed out.
Great video clip.
You’ve hit the nail on the head, Keith. Gore for the sake of gore is not cool.
